OUR RIVER COMMUNITY

 BLI BLI COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION

Bli Bli Community Association supports its local community groups, businesses and the residents of the area. It enables all of the community to come together to promote the local area as well as lobby all levels of government for greater support within the area. The Community Association aims to coordinate and promote community based activities within the area. The Association meets on the third Tuesday night of each month at the Bli Bli Public Hall on Willis Road. The Association is actively looking to promote its local community groups so that all residents can benefit from what is on offer and at the same time promote its local businesses so that the residents support these businesses first.

The Bli Bli Community Association manages the Hall and Church buildings as well as producing the Bli Bli Bulletin and organising community events.

OUR BLI BLI AREA

A few kilometres inland from the Maroochydore urban area, Bli Bli rises above the wetlands which were, for many years, the home of the Sunshine Coast sugarcane industry. Whilst this industry is all but gone, state government legislation ensures the wetlands will remain an undeveloped Green Space. The name Bli Bli is believed to be derived from the Kabi word bilai meaning sheoak tree (Casuarina glauca). Today Bli Bli has become a conveniently located residential community, it retains its small-town feel, yet is minutes from Sunshine Plaza in Maroochydore, the beautiful beaches of the Sunshine Coast and the Bruce Highway.

Bli Bli offers enough peace, recreation, entertainment and excitement to make everyone smile.
